Learn Techniques to Clean Up Your Clutter, Get Organized and Become More Productive Personally and Professionally Owner of "Clutter Free" Business to Address NJ Creatives in September at the Bergen Museum of Art and Science Paramus, NJ, August 20, 2004 - September is a time for new beginnings, when students are returning to school and friends and families are finishing their summer vacations and holiday celebrations. It's a time for organizing and looking forward. To kick off its Wednesday, September 8th meeting, NJ Creatives has invited Terry Schuster, owner of Clutter Free, the Organizing Service, to talk about how creative business owners can become more organized and free themselves from the burden of clutter. Better organization, she notes, enables business owners to become more productive both personally and professionally. The meeting will be held at the Bergen Museum of Art and Science, located on the lower level of the Bergen Mall, Paramus, NJ. Networking begins at 7:30 p.m., the program at 8:00 p.m. The meeting is free for NJ Creatives members, $10 at the door for guests, and $5 for students with proper identification. Schuster, 49, who resides in Fairlawn, NJ, began her business back in 1996 for under $1,000. Her motto is, "You will have a better tomorrow if you do it today." Schuster's career was launched after she read a business article about a professional organizer in New York City who helped employees clean up their cubicles. She couldn't believe that someone was getting paid for doing something she did so naturally. Soon after, she joined the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and met people who felt similarly about the importance of organization and maintaining a clutter-free living and working space. Schuster, who has been doing this "organizing" work professionally for over eight years, is a firm believer in letting go of those stacks of magazines and newspapers that keep piling up. Since beginning her business, she has helped many clients in Northern New Jersey and New York learn how to let go and clean up their clutter. As someone diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Schuster used her disability to an advantage. Her ADD problems caused her to be vigilant about keeping her environment neat, clean and organized. And now she's using those same talents to help others get organized. She acknowledges that she has been "organizing" all of her life. Schuster's clients range from solo entrepreneurs and Chief Executive Officers to stay-at-home parents. Many of her clients also have ADD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Some people are disorganized because they don't have the time to organize or have never been taught proper organizational skills. She is a hands-on organizer who develops customized systems for her clients using practical and sometimes out-of-the-box suggestions. A member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization (NSGCD) and the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO), she has a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Schuster encourages those who attend to come armed and "organized" with some questions about their own personal situations. She says she loves a good challenge.
Begun in 1984 by three freelance professionals who wanted to exchange ideas and
referrals, NJ Creatives, formerly known as S.W.A.N., has grown into a successful
non-profit, dues-paying organization that boasts a diverse membership of
talented professionals. Members include writers, designers of print and web
media, illustrators, photographers, video producers, public relations
