THE ART OF BALANCING YOUR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE
AT FEBRUARY NJ CREATIVES MEETING

CN 8's Mary Amoroso will offer tips on how the
"sandwich generation" can advance professionally
while juggling family obligations

January 18, 2005 - Paramus, NJ - As a busy professional, do you find yourself scrambling to juggle your time between work and family demands? Are you wondering how you can get ahead professionally when you have so many family responsibilities? Does your work time cut sharply into your personal time as you find yourself going to more business meetings, fielding business calls wherever you are and answering endless e-mails? Do you have too many commitments to friends, family and volunteer organizations so there is too little time for yourself? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then Mary Amoroso, host of the cable television show, "Real Life," which airs on CN8, has some tips to help improve the quality of both your personal and professional life. Amoroso will be the guest speaker at the Wednesday, February 9, 2005 meeting of the New Jersey Creatives Network.

The meeting will be held in Paramus, NJ, at the Bergen Museum of Art and Science, located on the lower level of the Bergen Mall. Networking begins at 7:30 p.m. and the meeting and program begin at 8 p.m. The meeting is free for members, $10 for non-members and $5 for students who show proper identification. Refreshments are available during the networking portion of the meeting.

Amoroso, a former newspaper reporter, editor and columnist, says that it can be a challenge "balancing work and life when neither fits into neat little boxes." Host of CN8's "Real Life," the show addresses practical issues facing viewers with a focus on family and relationships. Amoroso's job as host is to tackle complex issues, interview experts who can provide insight into relationships and family dynamics, while offering treatment options for those in need of help.

She also wrote a column for The Record of Hackensack called "The Pressured Parent." Prior to her roles as a CN8 host and newspaper columnist, Amoroso held many positions in the media, including news and features editor, political columnist and statehouse bureau chief. Her broadcast experience includes reporting for WNEW in New York and the New Jersey Network.

She is the recipient of many awards, including the New Jersey Press Association Award, the Cable ACE Award, two Telly Awards and a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, Jim McQueeny, president of Winning Strategies, a public relations company, and political analyst for News12NJ, and their four children, ranging in age from nine to 22.

Amoroso will present a lecture and field questions from the audience following her discussion. "They say a good trial lawyer never asks a question to which he doesn't know the answer. The key to my creative life and work life -- and my greatest joy -- has been asking questions to which I didn't know the answer,'' she said.
